Update from Up High

Font Romeu

After the successful cycling competitions at Luxembourg Champs, I packed my stuff and left Luxembourg for another long term training block. First, I went to the South of France, near Perpignan, and stayed there for a two week block. Focus was more on speed and getting used to some longer training sessions before heading to Font Romeu to enjoy three weeks of altitude training.

The first few days were a bit boring since I was by myself and Alicia did a summer class for her PhD at HHL Business School in Leipzig. Just after a few days, it got packed up here, just to mention a few names:Laurent Vidal, David Hauss, Barrett Brandon, Peter Croes, a lot of the Kiwi team, UK team, Aussi team, Hongkong team and so on. So I guess you guys can imagine the quality of training up here. It fantastic and I haven’t had this much fun in a long time–especially in the past trips to Font Romeu.

Today I just finished my big volume block and I am very tired. It’s just a week to go till the race in Prague, and I am right on track for it. This will be a serious test for the big goal in Hawaii. I can already see a medal in sight if it all comes together and I didn’t overdo it up here. There is always fine line between finding the right balance in miles, speed, and recovery in altitude. Tapering has never been my best friend, and so I need the keep the training going even before the races.

Life is great, the long term camps seem to work out for me, traveling is always fun and having all my buddies around here is absolutely motivating. Every couple of days we meet for a drink after dinner and share funny stories- man, I gotta write my book soon…

By the way, after Prague I will enjoy a week off- so I am also looking forward to that. Two more training blocks till Hawaii–exciting! Till now the preparation has gone 100% perfect…

Keep your eyes out for some cool things that are in the Live & Let Tri pipeline–I am working on some interesting surprises for you that will be out very soon…
