Dirk, I suffered a stress fracture in my 3rd metatarsal the exact same time, mid June…3 months before my first full distance race. Same thing training going well, down at track, boom…foot blew up. I ended up not running for 8 weeks…My foot was tender for a week, week and half…I began to cycle very lightly on a my single speed with sneakers and then eventually onto road bike..Cycling never hurt, swimming hurt a little bit on the push off, but because I wasn’t running, and wearing my legs out…my fitness exploded!! The rest really help me absorb all the work I had done..I was depressed initially as expected but i began to read about the injury and focus on other things…anyway for me I went 9:27 for my first, I know you can do that in your sleep, but I still had a great race despite the injury!…Don’t worry Dirk, you will be better because of this!…all things happen for a reason. Good Luck!! JImmy Brady
PS sorry I didn’t get back to you about the coaching.

Gute Besserung Dirk, schade das zu hören. Hoffentlich bist du bald wieder zu 100% fit.

Gah, that totally sucks :/. Was hoping to see you dominate in Motala live actually. Who do you think can take the race? Ronnie?

Thanks Steve- I didn’t plan on Kona this year, ITU worlds and Roth were the key races and then another IM to get points for 2016 Kona. But now everything is in the total open and I am not sure yet…I will try to come up with a new plan. I am still in the short term depression period, haha
thanks. So ein Mist, aber gut was will man machen. Abwarten und dann halt wieder beim nächsten Mal, so ist dass beim “pushing the limits”. Dir auch Alles Gute, cheers
HI JB, thank you very much. Tough story about your experience man. but I totally agree- it will take some patience and then I will be back at it. It should heal pretty quickly but it still changes the entire season and there is a long rat’s tail to deal with as well…..no biggy. It’s life. No worries about the coaching- let me know if and how I can be of help buddy. All the best to you.
cheers

Oh nein, das gibt’s doch gar nicht … get well soon. As you said, pushing the limits is a ride on a knife’s blade. It’s the hard times that creates personalities. So, don’t despair and you’ll grow.

By the way, do you have a personal physio that takes care of your whole body regularly? Checking all trigger points, not only, when it already hurts…
Danke Dir.
