The day before my first Ironman Hawaii

The race will start at 6:45am Kona time (12:45pm EST, and 6:45pm CET) on Saturday October 10th!!!

Luxembourg National Cycling Championships

Thursday’s contre-la-montre (Time Trial), 18km:

I was very excited to be part of the Cycling Championships in Luxembourg this year, even though it was during my racing break, I was still looking forward to a good performance to show the cyclists that I am a good rider. I knew the race course and I had my training partner and friend Paul Westwood behind me in the follow car; Alicia was there as well and she filmed the whole thing!

Bundesliga to Cycling Champs and everything in between

Schliersee start

Last weekends race @ Schliersee was a great team effort. It was my first short distance race since last August at the Olympic Games- and I can still do it. I didn’t end up finishing the race because only the first four men from a team of five count – but it was awesome to win as a team, and to know that we are pretty securely going to win the Bundesliga series this year!

The Night Before my First Ironman

The adrenaline is pumping and I am very excited to step up and race my first Ironman tomorrow: All is well and i am feeling really good and relaxed at the moment. There are quite some changes compared to ITU racing but it should be no problem to adapt here. Some rules are strange-but its the same for everyone.

The past days went by fast and the training effort has been on recovery mode for some time. We just changed our accommodation in a more quiet place and that will give me the necessary space I need before the competition. My friends Chris and Natasha came all the way from Germany/Luxembourg to support me and give me a hand in the days leading up to the race. Alicia is doing all the organization and planing every day, which turns out to be quite a bit of work.
